We've decided we're going to start doing Monthly recap posts. These will cover all changes and tweaks done over the course of the month and include a sneak-peak at what our plans/hopes for the following month will be.
So sit down and strap in and lets take a look at what happened in January!
What's Changed
- Klinger's Additional Structures was removed on January 22nd due to lack of Developer Support.
- The fancy walls that this mod provided have disappeared from our world, we loved them too and hated the idea they were leaving but it was for the best.
- We realize many were using the varying gates from this mod as well in their builds and are saddened that these also had to go with the removal.
- Visual Storage was added as our Early/Mid game Dedicated Storage system
- This mod is still in Development and we're excited to see it grow and expand to cover a multitude of different storage options for the many different resources that can be found in ARK.
- We've set the storage sizes to half that of Vanilla Dedi-Storages (250,000) to encourage desire/use of Tek Tier Dedicated Storages while still offering a large amount of storage space available within this system.
- Shiny! has had adjustments left and right this month while we attempted to find a setting that suited our playstyle goals.
- Both Creature and Variant are now displayed in the Tracker
- Tracker location indicator has been resized multiple times to find a suitable "Here" marker without giving away where the creature may be
- More Variants were added to the mod during all this tweaking and adjusting and most were added to our array of available Shiny! types to track for Hunting and/or Taming
- We initially goofed and have since resolved the issue where Enraged and non-Special variants weren't spawning at all.
- Baby Care was finally released for our server!
- Mating Pulse has made Breeding multiple Breeding Groups easier with the single activation of "Enable Mating" performed on the structure
- Imprinting to 100% has been made a bit easier with the introduction of Teddies, no more worrying about whether or not you'll be able to make that imprint or have to store a dino while you were unable to play.
- Working Class had some tweaks and adjustments made to better suit our play-goals on server.
- Several bugs were introduced but also fixed in this time.
- Breeding Stopper was added on behalf of the server itself to prevent Mating Abuse where Mating was left enabled indefinitely.
- Net Projectile was voted onto server as an alternative way to Trap/Slow Down larger creatures for taming or killing purposes.
- This was approved by Admin due to the Net Projectile being several DLC's away and are setup the same way the Vanilla counterpart functions.
- Dino Mindwipe was added
Behind the Scenes
- Anti-PvE-Griefing Plugin added
- Dead bodies and bags that do not belong to your tribe (or are wild) can no longer be accessed by non-tribe mates
- Structures that could be disabled or activated by non-tribe can no longer be toggled
- Bodies of players not belonging to your tribe can no longer be dragged.
- No more dragging non-tribe-members into water for drowning, etc;
- Decayed Dinos are now guaranteed to be destroyed rather than up for claiming.
- Admin's are exempt from these rules for Admin purposes.
Discord
- Admin Logging channel has been added
- This channel will log, record and display all commands used by admin's on all our servers.
- Since we disabled this in-game we found an alternative way to show you what we're up to as well as a way for us to monitor other possible Admin actions.
- This channel will log, record and display all commands used by admin's on all our servers.
Shop Updates
- Supporter Tiers have been updated in our Server's Support Shop.
- All Tiers will now receive at least 1 Paint Brush a month for helping support the server.
- Additional Tokens have been granted per Month for many Tiers
- An Additional 25 Tokens package has been added to our Support Shop for those just looking for a small boost to their Token banks.
- Dino Paint Brush has had a price reduction from $5 down to $2.50.
In February..
The Center
Integrating The Center into our cluster to replace Svartalfheim will take a little backend setup but we'll let everyone know when the servers will be down and when they're expected to be back online and available for transfering between the two maps.
Valentine's Day
Leap Year ~ Moose Day
We're excited for the celebration of the Leap Year too!
Celebrate the Leap Year and Moose Day with us on February 29th where we'll be hosting a rare x2 Taming Event on our cluster!
That's right, you read that correctly! We're boosting our Taming Rate for a full 24hrs to celebrate Moose Day with you. You'll need less Food, less Appetizers and less time all around to tame that special critter during this Celebration!
What if Center Release and Moose Day collide?
In the Unfortunate event that The Center releases on Moose Day we'll have to evaluate or poll how to handle the situation appropriately.
Currently our two options are to either:
- Extend Moose Day's x2 Taming event by 12hrs to compensate any down-time of our cluster while we connect The Center.
- Delay the connection of The Center until after the Event ends to avoid down-time during the Event altogether.
We'll keep an eye on Wild Card's expectations on the matter and attempt to choose the best route possible for our community in handling this situation.
Down the Line..
QoL+ replacement
Due to QoL+ being inactive for the past two months without word from the Developer and the bugs that appeared during this time, we've decided that QoL+ is not the best option available for our long-term use.
While the Developer has seemed to return, they have openly admitted that their Development drive is solely based on how much they're actively playing the game. Since we're all starting to feel the repetition of having only the Island to play with, I'm sure we can all also relate to how this does not bode well in terms of Support looking at long-term.
That being said we are waiting and watching a long-time mod Super Structures as a replacement for this system. Super Structures is a mod from ASE that is still supported in ASE alongside ASA and is actively being worked on as you read this post.
Currently SS already includes the pull system we're all familiar with. Including many more features attached to it, including but not limited to Ammo pulling for weapons! QoL+ doesn't have this feature.
SS tools are also "Always with you" and do not require crafting of an item to have them made available to you, saving your presets to your character rather than an item. This means if you die and "lose your transfer tool" you don't have to worry about setting up your presets all over again! We're personally incredibly excited for this feature!
SS is still in heavy development and does not currently offer any structures, however structure releases are planned for the mods next two major updates!
We're hanging onto QoL+ until SS catches up with our key structure needs to ensure a smoother transition between the two mods. These structures include, but are not specifically limited to:
- Nanny
